Belford Mews
The design brief in this Victorian mews property was to create an area of tranquility and privacy within the heart of the city from three incoherent, narrow, sterile and featureless zones.
Front gardens
View some examples of front gardens that have been transformed and enhanced by Planscapes in recent years, in areas such as Craigielaw (Aberlady, East Lothian), Corstorphine and Craigleith areas of Edinburgh.
West Linton
The customer's request here was to create a cohesive and impressive setting for a recently completed detached villa. This project involved resolving some challenging ground levels, and taking account of the exposed rural location.
Waughton
This garden was considerably overgrown and required thinning out and remodeling. The solution was both simple and effective. We created a secluded, less crowded outdoor space incorporating a purpose built summer house which has become the main focal point of the garden.
Eskbank
The grounds of this impressive Victorian sandstone residence deserved some special attention to create a more harmonious transition between the house and surrounding garden. This was achieved by creating an extensive paved terrace incorporating formal stone steps to a reshaped existing formal lawn.
Brunstane Mill (1)
This project was one of the most challenging in design and implementation we have undertaken in recent years.
The specification here was to create a safe & usable outside family dining / entertainment area, on an area of riverbank that was narrow, steep-sloped and unstable.
Brunstane Mill (2)
In this project, the family wanted the garden to serve a variety of functions. A safe play area for a young family, a private entertaining area, and an appropriate setting for the house were to be created from what was basically an unusable area of sloping grass with challenging levels.
Gullane
In this project we were asked to collaborate with the architect, who designed the house to resolve certain issues regarding the garden area. The main challenge was the various ground levels to the front and rear. We used these to our advantage with a series of retaining walls, 'Lutyens' style circular steps and a stepped ramp to retain the various levels and coordinate them with the architecture of the house.
